Abstract:

Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the world. Surgical resection is currently considered to be the main treatment method, supplemented by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can detect the diffusion of water molecules in living tissues, and then provide quantitative information by measuring the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC). Intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI) can not only observe the diffusion of tissue water molecules but also reflect the blood perfusion information of tissue microcirculation. Thus, those techniques can be used to diagnose and evaluate treatment response of gastric cancer. In this article, we review the application of DWI in the diagnosis, staging, pathological correlation and therapeutic response evaluation of gastric cancer.
