Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effects of soul yoga and narrative nursing on adverse psychological reactions and sleep quality in patients with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Methods

By consulting the literature and based on the psychological characteristics of patients with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, we worked out the psychological intervention of the combination of soul yoga and narrative nursing, and carried out the "micro-classroom" training of psychological nursing to convey the training content to the nurses in the department. A total of 100 patients who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at the Transplantation Center of Blood Disease Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from May 2017 to December 2018 were randomly divided into either a control group (50 cases) or an experimental group (50 cases). The general data of the patients were collected on the day of entering the warehouse, and the psychological and sleep statuses of the patients were evaluated using the symptom checklist 90 (SCI-90) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI). During the period of transplantation, the control group was given conventional hematopoietic stem cell transplantation nursing and basic psychological nursing. The experimental group was given soul yoga and narrative nursing once a week for 30 minutes each time. SCI-90 and PSQI were filled in again before leaving the warehouse, then the scores were compared in and between groups.

Results

There was no significant difference in the scores of SCI-90 between the two groups before intervention (P>0.05). After intervention, the total score of SCI-90 and the scores of each dimension in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.01). There was no significant difference in the scores of PSQI between the two groups before intervention (9.11±2.24 vs 9.14±2.27, P>0.05). After intervention, the PSQI score of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group (5.04±3.21 vs 8.33±2.41, P<0.05)].

Conclusion

The intervention of soul yoga and narrative nursing can alleviate the psychological problems of patients with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and improve their sleep quality.
