Hot issues related to lateral lymph node dissection for rectal cancer

Abstract:

Lateral lymph node dissection (LLND) is a hot issue in the surgical treatment of rectal cancer. Controversy persists regarding LLND in many aspects between the East and the West. Based on the relevant literature and our clinical experience, in this article we review several hot issues related to LLND, such as the indications, the scope and surgical techniques, postoperative complications and organ function protection, the impact of new technologies on LLND.
