Progress in the treatment of varicose veins

Abstract:

Varicose veins are one of the most common diseases in vascular surgery. Varicose veins are mainly located in the lower limbs, and great saphenous vein is most closely involved. The clinical manifestations were acid distension and burning sensation of lower limbs, complications such as venous thrombosis and leg ulcers often occurred with prolonged standing, which would seriously affect the quality of life. Conservative treatment options include pressure therapy and making lifestyle modifications such as avoidance of prolonged standing and straining. Surgical treatment options include traditional technique of saphenofemoral ligation with vein stripping, thermal-tumescent ablative treatments, hemodynamic correction (CHIVA), non-thermal non-tumescent treatments (NTNTs). Herein, the article sheds light on the treatment of varicose veins of lower limbs.
