Efficacy of hysteroscopic electroresection combined with modified Shenghua decoction for treatment of endometrial polyps and its impact on short-term recurrence

Abstract:

Objective

To observe the clinical efficacy of hysteroscopic electrocision combined with modified shenghua decoction in the treatment of endometrial polyps and explore its effect on short-term recurrence.

Methods

A total of 132 cases of endometrial polyps treated at Lianyungang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to March 2021 were selected as the research subjects, and they were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group using the random number table method, with 66 cases in each group. The therapeutic effects and short-term recurrence after ≥6 months were compared between the two groups.

Results

The total effective rate in the observation group was 90.91%, which was significantly higher than that in the control group (62.12%; P<0.05). Three months after surgery, the endometrial thickness, menstrual flow, and menstrual period were significantly improved in both groups compared with those before surgery (P<0.05). The improvements of endometrial thickness, menstrual flow, and menstrual period in the observation group were significantly superior to those in the control group (P<0.05). In particular, serum LH, E2, and FSH levels of patients in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The recurrence rate was 3.03% in the observation group and 12.12% in the control group within 6~20 months after operation, and the difference was statistically significant between the two groups (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Short-term recurrence risk can be reduced after hysteroscopic resection of endometrial polyps supplemented with modified Shenghua decoction.
