Abstract:

Severe acute pancreatitis is a potentially lethal disease. In recent years, due to the extensive research on severe acute pancreatitis and the rapid development of related disciplines such as minimally invasive surgery, the therapeutic concept for severe acute pancreatitis has undergone tremendous changes. A step-up approach with an emphasis on multi-disciplinary, phased, and minimally invasive management has broken the traditional surgical model and become the new mode of treatment for severe acute pancreatitis since its significant clinical efficacy has been widely recognized by scholars worldwide.

Key words: Severe acute pancreatitis, Step-up approach, Minimally invasive
