Abstract:

The pancreas is an essential organ that has endocrine and exocrine function and plays a vital role in metabolism, digestion, and absorption. In recent years, as the number of obese people increases, the morbidity of obesity-related acute pancreatitis (AP) is increasing. However, the exact pathogenesis of obesity-related AP has not been fully elucidated. The research of obesity-related AP has gradually attracted wide attention. In this paper, we review the recent progress in research on the role of obesity in AP to help understand the pathogenesis and new therapeutic targets of AP.
