Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the homogenization of standardized training for psychiatrists in Jiangsu Province.

Methods

One hundred and six trained psychiatry residents from seven mental training bases in Jiangsu Province were selected as the subjects. A questionnaire was designed for field investigation.

Results

There was no significant difference in sex, age, source, working time, or medical practising certificate among the psychiatry residents from different hospitals (P>0.05), but there was a significant difference in educational background and training time (P<0.01). In terms of clinical ability, there were significant differences in psychiatry knowledge, general clinical knowledge, and clinical basic skills among hospital students (P<0.05). Compared with the hospitals with the highest score, the scores of three psychotic hospitals and one general hospital were lower (P<0.05), and the scores of general clinical knowledge and basic skills were lower (P<0.05). The scores of psychiatry knowledge, general clinical knowledge, and basic skills in each hospital were then compared. There were significant differences between the two general hospitals and three psychotic hospitals (P<0.05). When the scores of psychiatry knowledge, general clinical knowledge, and basic skills in each hospital were compared with those with the highest score, one general hospital had a lower score of psychiatry knowledge (P<0.05), and all hospitals had a lower score of general clinical knowledge (P<0.05). In terms of comprehensive ability, there were significant differences in clinical ability, scientific research ability, and humanistic quality psychiatry residents from different hospitals (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in health or psychology (P>0.05). Compared with the hospitals with the highest score, all four psychotic hospitals and one general hospital had lower scores of clinical ability (P<0.05), two psychotic hospitals and one general hospital had lower scores of scientific research ability (P<0.05), and the scores of scientific research ability of two psychotic hospitals and one general hospital were significantly lower (P<0.05).

Conclusion

The homogenization level of mental education in Jiangsu Province needs to be further improved.
