To analyze the difficulties faced in the standardized training of residents in fever clinics, and to explore teaching methods to improve its quality and efficiency in a short period of time.

We summarized the key points and patterns of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) into six scenarios by scene teaching and provide an intuitive practical experience to the residents rotating in fever clinics.

The residents had a good understanding of the core diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 in only 3 days of clinical practice. The efficiency was greatly improved, the number of patients treated by one resident every day increased from 25 to more than 60, and the waiting time of patients was significantly shortened, which effectively relieved the pressure of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, because residents had a clearer understanding of the nature of COVID-19, they eliminated fear and enhanced self-confidence, which avoid unnecessary blood tests and chest CT examinations, thus reducing the medical costs of patients.

The application of scene teaching for the standardized training of residents in fever clinics can shorten the learning curve, improve the quality of rotation, and achieve the training goals of memory, understanding, integration, and optimization.
