Healthcare management and related experiences of large medical team in the rescue of COVID-19 in Wuhan City

Abstract:

Objective

Summarize the healthcare management and related experiences of the 2nd Foshan Medical Team in the rescue of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Methods

The human resource, baseline information, reported healthcare events including uncomfortable symptoms, onset sites, duration, management and prognosis were analyzed retrospectively.

Results

There were 160 medical staffs joined the 2nd Foshan Medical Team. And 104 healthcare events reported by 33 medical staffs were issued. The major reported symptoms are 56.7% with cough and 13.5% with dizziness / headache. 76.9% reported symptoms lasted one day. Most reported healthcare events happened at hotel and 90.38% released by having rest. Only 6.7% had got medicine and 5.8% were scanned by CT and got nucleic acid amplification testing with negative results.

Conclusion

The successful healthcare management of medical staff is the cornerstone for the whole medical team to complete the mission and return home peacefully. The 2nd Foshan Medical Team set up a staff healthcare coordinator to monitor all staffs′ health situation, submit and solve the healthcare event, and set up an algorithm for healthcare and urgent rescue, and enhance medical staffs′ psychological care. Hence, all medical staffs are health and return home peacefully. The related experiences of the 2nd Foshan Medical Team is useful.
