Abstract:

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy that threatens women's health and lives. Currently, clinical practice guidelines provide standards for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Early detection and treatment through screening are effective measures for breast cancer prevention and control. Chinese government attaches great importance to the prevention and control of chronic diseases. The "Healthy China 2030" planning outline proposes that by 2030, the overall 5-year survival of cancer will increase by 15%, in which the improvement of breast cancer patients' survival is crucial. China's health care system for women and children has formed an effective model in long-term practices, which contains a three-level health service network of "county-town-village", as well as the combination of group prevention & control and clinical diagnosis & treatment. Such operation model would have unique advantages in breast cancer screening project. In the past 10 years since the initiation of breast cancer screening in Beijing, an organizational structure and screening system led by health care hospitals for women and children has been formed. Under the leadership of breast specialty, the technical capacity of screening has been continuously improved. With the support of the health administration, the health care hospitals for women and children should utilize the advantages of management and system to carry out breast cancer screening related research and explore a suitable screening model for Chinese women.
