Abstract:

Objective

To assess the clinical value of Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate combined with Total Glycosides of White Paeony Root in the treatment of oral erosion lichen planus.

Methods

A total of 33 patients with oral lichen planus who were treated in the Stomatological Outpatient Department of Suqian Hospital Affiliated to Xuzhou Medical University from January 2018 to May 2019 were collected. The 33 patients were randomly divided into either a control group or a treatment group with sealed opaque envelopes. All the patients were given Triamcinolone Acetonide Oral Ointment. The treatment group (n=17) was additionally given 200 mg Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate Tablets orally, twice daily and Total Gglycosides of White Paeony Root Capsules, 0.6 g each time, twice daily. The control group (n=16) was only given 200 mg Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate Tablets orally, twice daily. The treatments lasted 6 months. The therapeutic effects and complications of the two groups were observed.

Results

In the treatment group, 12 cases achieved significant improvement, 4 achieved improvement, and 1 had no improvement, with a total effective rate of 94.12%. In the control group, 9 cases achieved significant improvement, 5 achieved improvement, and 2 had no improvement, with a total effective rate of 87.50%. There was a statistically significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups after 6 months of treatment (χ2=6.415, P=0.048). In the two groups, women accounted for more than 58.3% in the treatment group and 66.7% in the control group. During the treatment, the incidence of non-specific rash in the treatment group (5.88%) was significantly lower than that in the control group (18.75%; χ2=0.985, P=0.046).

Conclusion

Based on the topical application of Triamcinolone Acetonide Oral Ointment, the systemic application of Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate combined with Total Glycosides of White Paeony Root in the treatment of oral erosion lichen planus has achieved the expected clinical effect, with fewer complications and good tolerance and compliance in patients, which is worthy of promotion in clinical practice.
