Abstract:

Psoas abscess is a class of partial infectious diseases occurring within the psoas major muscle, with insidious and atypical clinical manifestations. It is difficult to diagnose in the early stage, and the misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis rates are high in the clinic. Bacterial infection is the main pathogenic cause, with Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis being the most common pathogens. Clinical manifestations are fever, lameness, and back pain, with or without other non-specific manifestations. Diagnosis is mainly based on pathogenetic and radiological examinations, while pharmacological treatment and puncture and drainage are the keys to treating this disease. There are few studies on psoas abscess both domestically and internationally. This paper reviews the current state and progress in the diagnosis and treatment of psoas abscess.
