Abstract:

With the development of the society, the incidence of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures has increased year by year. There are currently two kinds of treatments for this disease: conservative treatment and surgical treatment. Minimally invasive surgery has been advocated by many patients and medical workers for its clinical curative effect, which includes classic percutaneous vertebroplasty and percutaneous kyphoplasty as well as newer OptiMesh and curved vertebroplasty. This paper reviews the progress in minimally invasive vertebroplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.

Key words: Osteoporosis, Vertebral compression fracture, Vertebroplasty, Kyphoplasty, Curved vertebroplasty, OptiMesh
