Abstract:

The incidence of NAFLD keeps increasing year by year, and there are still many problems in the diagnosis and evaluation of severity of NAFLD. Pathological examination of liver tissue is still the gold standard for the diagnosis of NAFLD, and it is difficult to make a reliable diagnosis based on laboratory examination. Studies have shown that serum hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) levels are associated with NAFLD spectrum. Therefore, clarifying the relationship between HGF and NAFLD and how HGF affects the progression of NAFLD is of great significance for the further understanding of the pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of this condition. This article reviews the recent advances in understanding the correlation between HGF level and NAFLD, with an aim to provide a new approach for the clinical diagnosis of NAFLD.

Key words: Liver disease, nonalcoholic, fatty, Growth factor, hepatocyte
