Abstract:

Objective

To observe the expression of annexin A5 (ANX A5) and extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducible factor (CD147) in laryngeal carcinoma and tumor adjacent normal tissues, and to analyze the correlation between the expression of ANX A5 and CD147 in laryngeal carcinoma.

Methods

Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of ANX A5 and CD147 in 51 laryngeal carcinoma tissues and 35 tumor adjacent tissues. The expression of ANX A5 and CD147 in laryngeal cancer patients with different pathological and clinical characteristics was analyzed by the quadruple table χ2 test, and the correlation between the expression of ANX A5 and CD147 in laryngeal cancer tissues was analyzed by Spearman correlation analysis.

Results

The expression levels of ANX A5 and CD147 in laryngeal carcinoma tissues were higher than those in tumor adjacent tissues (χ2=6.939, P=0.008; χ2=14.722, P<0.001). Compared with patients with TNM stageⅠ-Ⅱ disease, patients with low-undifferentiated laryngeal carcinoma, and patients without cervical lymph node metastasis, the expression level of ANX A5 was significantly higher in patients with TNM stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ disease, patients with highly-to-moderately differentiated laryngeal carcinoma, and patients without cervical lymph node metastasis, respectively (χ2=5.298, P=0.021; χ2=3.869, P=0.049; χ2=8.419, P=0.004); there was no significant difference in the expression level of ANX A5 between patients aged≥ 60 and<60 years and between patients of different sexes (χ2=0.003, P=0.957; χ2=0.082, P=0.775). Compared with patients with TNM stageⅠ-Ⅱ disease and patients without cervical lymph node metastasis, the expression of CD147 was significantly higher in patients with stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ disease and patients with cervical lymph node metastasis, respectively (χ2=14.009, P<0.001; χ2=11.004, P=0.001). There was no significant difference in the expression of CD147 between patients over 60 years old and those under 60 years old, between patients of different genders, and between patients with different pathological grades (χ2=1.546, P=0.214; χ2=1.373, P=0.241; χ2=0.002, P=0.964). Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that ANX A5 expression was positively correlated with CD147 expression in laryngeal carcinoma (χ2=0.918, P<0.001).

Conclusion

The expression levels of ANX A5 and CD147 in laryngeal carcinoma tissues are higher than those in adjacent tissues, and there are differences in the expression levels of ANX A5 and CD147 among laryngeal carcinoma patients with different pathological and clinical characteristics, suggesting that ANX A5 and CD147 may participate in the occurrence and development of laryngeal carcinoma.
