Abstract:

Objective

To design and evaluate the feasibility of a new set of suture instruments in the endoscopic hand-suturing of the mucosal defect of the ex vivo porcine colon.

Methods

Approximately 3 cm colonic mucosal resections were created every 10 cm (10 places in total) in four ex vivo porcine colons divided into two groups randomly (2 ex vivo porcine colons for each) that were closed with an absorbable barbed suture, a through-the-scope needle holder, and vascular forceps, respectively. The procedure time were recorded.

Results

Both groups completed the scheduled operation. The experimental group was similar to the control group in operative time [(19.4±2.5) min vs (19.1±2.3) min, t=0.30, P>0.05].

Conclusion

The new set of suture instruments in the endoscopic hand-suturing of the mucosal defect of the ex vivo porcine colon is feasible, which has the advantages of convenient needle in and out, short operative time, and convenient operation, but the device details and processing technology need further improvement.
