Abstract:

Depression is a kind of mental disorder characterized by significant and persistent low mood. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is commonly used as a noninvasive neural activity regulating means, and its mechanism of action and efficacy remain controversial. In this paper, we review the application of tDCS in the treatment of depression from the perspectives of mechanism, safety, and future prospects by comparing the efficacy of tDCS alone and in combination with drugs.
