Abstract:

HPV infection is the main cause of cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. There has been a remarkable decline in the morbidity and mortality of cervical cancer and its related diseases after the popularization and application of HPV vaccines in the past ten years. HPV vaccine has only been recently licensed in China, and there are still many influencing factors in the process of promotion and vaccination, e.g., adverse events, lower awareness rate, high cost, supply shortage, worry about safety and effectiveness, and lack of HPV-related knowledge. This paper reviews the progress in the research of HPV and HPV vaccine and the influencing factors in the popularization and application of HPV vaccine in order to provide information to help increase the coverage rate of HPV vaccine and develop a new locally produced HPV vaccine that is cheap, safe, and effective.
