Abstract:

Gastric cancer is a common malignancy in China, causing a heavy disease burden. Ovarian metastasis of gastric origin is mostly encountered in premenopausal women aged 43-48 years. At present, ovarian metastasis of gastric origin results more likely from lymphatic metastasis. Most of the cases involve bilateral ovaries. The peritoneal metastasis rate detected during intraoperative exploration is high, and the prognosis of these patients is poor. The diagnosis requires the combination of gastric cancer pathology and imaging features of bilateral ovarian tumors. The current treatment methods are still controversial. Patients with resectable isolated ovarian metastasis undergoing radical or maximally cytoreductive surgery with postoperative chemotherapy and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy may have longer overall survival. There is still a need for more large-scale research data to further explore effective treatment options.
